The Hammer Board console is on uart0 with the APEX ( the bootloader that ships with the Hammer Board) defaulting to the baud rate of 115200,N,8,1. Under Linux you can use minicom and under Microsoft Windows you can use Hyperterm. For those not familiar with serial communications under Linux you can read the Serial Howto.

If you are not using the Hammer Board Carrier you can use a minimal rs-232 configuration using a RS232 Level Shifter.
