Here is an example of a .config for the hammer patched (enc28j60 as well) 2.6.22 kernel that enables TCPIP networking. It builds the enc28j60 and the kaweth drivers as modules. The kaweth driver is a USB ethernet device that has been tested as working with the 2.6.22 hamer patched kernel.
