Descriptions

The JKSOFT BeeHive Cape for BeagleBone makes radio connectivity with your BeagleBone (Black) very easy. The cape accepts upto two XBee formfactor modules. We use it for our own Bluetooth Low Energy modules and XBee modules by Digi. There are also WiFi modules in XBee form factor. Home automation, controlling robots and other embedded wireless solutions have never been so easy. The shield is designed for two XBee form factor modules for a reason: that way it will be perfect as a bridge between different solutions (e.g. from BLE to XBee and vice-versa while also allowing internet connectivity).

Revision Changes

The production version will be black and has an additional 3.3V regulator to also support XBee modules that draw more current.

Revision A1

Software Support

Getting Started

Required setup:

  • A BeeHive Cape for BeagleBone
  • A BeagleBone (with supported software)
  • Optionally a 5V DC power supply (we recommend 5V - 2A)
  • Optionally: One or more XBee modules
  • Optionally: Or an other XBee footprint compatible Bee module (like our Bluetooth Low Energy module)

Following the instructions below to start using your BeeHive Cape for BeagleBone:

  1. Mount the BeagleBone to the connectors on the bottom side of the BeeHive Cape for BeagleBone.
  2. Make sure the SD card using with BeagleBone has image that supports the BeeHive Cape for BeagleBone.
