Wouldn't audio be a part of a basic setup?  I am trying to get HDMI audio in debian wheezy, but cannot make it to work.  It used to work with squeezy, though. - [[User:jacek|jacek]] 23:25, 8 July 2012 (PDT)

Apple chargers don't work with the RPi, even though they are be rated at 1A. This may be because they have a USB port, and follow the USB standard, so they initially supply only 500mA and any higher current that the device requires must be requested by the device. The RPi can't request more power over the micro USB connector since it's data pins are not connected. This may be the reason that some USB power sources fail to power the RPi even though they can supply more than 700mA.  (Thanks to Phil for the explaination).

. There is a lot of talk about adaptors here. I'm not sure if it's a good idea to make beginners believe the RasPi does support something else than Composite or HDMI . I mean , this is about basic setup , and not how to make your RasPi work with every possible configuration. What is your opinion ? - Ghans

I think most of it is fine, it's warning people not to expect VGA to work, which is something a lot of people might expect. However, it might be worth getting rid of "The lack of VGA has been acknowledged as a priority issue. In a Q/A with Slashdot Eben said that they plan to look into providing some form of add-on." - Rockhawk 23:33, 5 March 2012 (UTC)

It has been noted that the steps in "Connecting Together" are in wrong order , which may result in unwanted / dangerous behaviour. Can anyone confirm this ? - Ghans 16:07, 18 March 2012 (UTC)

Power Supply

I've not been able to power the RPi with apple USB chargers. It will start to boot, but would restart part way through the process. A friend offered the following explaination, which may also apply to other USB power sources.
