''meltwater - Agreed, categories need to be added (not too familiar with them - so will learn), in particular general RaspberryPi tags (would improve searching a lot). TO DO - Will need everyone to help with it please.''

ghans - It's easy to to do : Just add <nowiki> [[Category:RaspberryPi]] </nowiki> to the top of each article !

Can be done on images , too. I'm currently searching and re-applying the category .

Recruit wiki editors on the forums !

''meltwater - Will add a thread.''

Discussion like this should not be done in a wiki , but on the discussion page !

''meltwater - Wasn't sure anyone would look at it, but since you can link to the discussion page (it didn't occur to me), that would be better (will tidy it up).  DONE!''

Is a guestbook in a wiki a good idea ?

''meltwater - It no more open to abuse than any other part, but it can be removed if wanted (at that point I was playing around with ideas - so happy either way).''

ghans - OK. I just thought a real guestbook would be more appropriate.

Offer the foundation and forum admins a reliable solution to migrate

each part of their WP site: Forum , comments, guestbook and this wiki (away from eLinux )!

A single Wordpress site isn't made to support all this.

ELinux is a wiki for many boards , but a seperate one for the Raspberry couldn't hurt !

''meltwater - I agree about the site and forums, but that's up to the foundation.  They are getting server space I believe so hopefully things will evolve.''

ghans - What I meant was that at the moment the Foundation could do with donations of human and technocal resources.

Money wouldn't hurt , but they are constantly referring to  <nowiki> "the community" </nowiki> . For example , some generous people on the forums offered their root/webservers to seed and  host (ftp) some SDCard images .

ghans - I just came to know about Frambozenbier/EduGeek .  Will they be able to help us ?

They obviously need support for their community !

[[RPi Admin]] - Can be removed.

[[RaspberryPiFirstSteps]] - almost duplicated by [[RPi Hardware Basic Setup]] - sorry didn't spot it (meltwater) (can be removed once all important info is transferred).

== To Do ==

'''Schools, Universities, Clubs & Groups [[Rpi Education]]'''

* needs merging the details from [[RaspberryPiBoard/EducationalLinks]]

* My original thought is to keep it separate to the community links, since one main focus of the RPi is the education side and ideally schools and clubs etc can share with each other through their own group pages.  But feel free to change it!

'''Supporting Communities'''

* again needs merging the details from [[RaspberryPiBoard/EducationalLinks]]

'''RPi Projects, Guides & Tutorials [[RaspberryPiBoardProjects]]'''

* Requires content!

'''Beginners Guide [[RaspberryPiBoardBeginners]]'''

* Needs a little tidy up and probably updating (by those who know!).

* Oh..I missed the RaspberryPiFirstSteps page [[RaspberryPiFirstSteps]], I ended up doing a very similar page (should have looked closer, so they can be combined

'''Language / Translations'''

* I"ve no idea what to do with that bit (from the original page), since I don"t know what the support is for doing it.  We can add a section for this if required.

* Need to add space for translated versions (i.e. links at the top of the page for each version).

'''Main Link to RPi Hub'''

* Do we want the RPi Hub to be the main link page or not (can link from the original [[RaspberryPiBoard]] or replace it and re-link any links to the old RPi Hub...

Latest revision as of 05:56, 23 February 2016

The RPi administration is headed by the RPi Council now.

The RPi Council is now defunct and i hope that it gets replaced by open , collaborative and fair
discussion between Wiki editors instead. Therefore i believe this page might be used as the central
place for discussions around the Raspberry Pi Wiki articles again.
Here are some things i'd like to address :
  • 1. What happens to the RPi_Council page ? Shall we merge it with this one ?
  • 2. I want to start a thread on the raspberrypi.org forums with updates on "cleaning up the Wiki" and a call for volunteers.
This is of paramount importance IMHO. Perhaps we can interested helpers from the beta RaspberryPi Stackexchange , too.
I believe that by communication via and presence on the forum we can make this Wiki much more useful for everyone.
What do you think ?
  • 3. Does anyone have a overview who translates Wiki articles and how this is managed ?
I'd like to talk to MagPi translators , other volunteers and eLinux.org admins if we can do anything improve
the situation or work together better.

Hey there, if there's anything I can add to elinux.org to make things easier for the RPi community, please let me know. Send email to User:Wmat. --Wmat (talk) 20:07, 8 April 2013 (UTC)
Hi Wmat , thank you for dropping by. Are there any methods which could help with translation of
individual pages into several languages ? Are they currently enabled or could be enabled in the future  ?
I have to admit that i don't have any overview who does translation work on the wiki and how , but if
any of our diligent translators read this , please drop a note if and how you could be assisted by a technical solution. Ghans (talk) 13:36, 13 April 2013 (UTC)
