Well my RaspberryPi arrived and I was excited to try it out. I had a power supply, monitor, keyboard, mouse, internet cable and, as far as I could tell, an imaged SD card. I plugged it all in and all I got was a black screen on the monitor. Lights flashed on the on the RaspberryPi circuit card it sort of looked like something was working but no display.

I troubleshot a bit with the SD card and other things but to no avail.

Then it occurred to me, I was in such a rush to try it out I used a 4.9v 850 mA power supply. The instructions clearly indicate a 5V 750 mA power source but I thought 4.9v is close enough. In my case it was not... I found a 5V 1000 mA plugged it in and the Pi ran very nicely!
