ZipIt Software Wishlist
- I'd like to see some of the original functionality replaced (ie. the stuff in the original firmware), namely a nice graphical interface.
- I'd like to see something that lets you connect to wireless networks graphically, and also serve as a launcher for other applications like wavemon, etc...
Offline tools
For use with or without AP Network discovery. To find wireless access, auto connect.
- iwconfig - manipulate the basic wireless parameters
- iwlist - allow to initiate scanning and list frequencies, bit-rates, encryption keys...
- iwspy - allow to get per node link quality
- wavemon - ncurses-based app for drivers supported by wireless extensions (iwconfig)

- centericq - ncurses based IM client, supports ICQ2000, Yahoo, AIM, IRC, MSN, Gadu-Gadu and Jabber protocols.

- nano - improved text editor. Pico clone

- More open 802.11 software. See mit-roofnet and comments on problems getting mesh networking to really work. They now use netgear wrt534u because the Atheros driver makes low level 802.11 packet access possible. This solves problems with 802.11 ad-hoc mode when used to build a mesh network.
- Soft mouse in a slim windows GUI using the Dpad and zipit button for easy web browsing. As well control and function of icons on a slim xwindows GUI.
