This page contains information on R-Car/Boards/Porter hardware.
R-Car M2 Porter board uses a 5.5 x 2.1mm barrel 12V power plug. It is a Center Positive power supply, indicating that the center (tip) of the output plug is positive (+), the outer barrel is negative (-).
TBD: add 12V power supplies
RAM: DDR3 SDRAM
The Renesas R-Car M2 Porter board DDR3-1600 RAM is organised into four 4-Gbit DDR3-SDRAMs (2 channels x 32 bit).
Flash: 128 MB NOR
1 Gbit NOR flash S29GL01GP is available on R-Car M2 Porter board. Full 128 MB are addressable only if CS1 is used for the most significant bit of the address. Otherwise only 64 MB are addressable.
Note: QSPI pins are multiplexed with the higher-order address pins (A20 to A25) of the LBSC in R-Car M2W pin function controller. Accordingly, when the QSPI is in use, only the lower-order address pins (A0 to A19) of the LBSC are available. 2 MB are addressable with CS1 and 1 MB without CS1. Refer to SW18.
Flash: 64 MB SPI
Flash: 4 MB SPI
Switches and Buttons
R-CarM2 incorporates one display unit (DU) with the LVDS interface and one display unit with the digital RGB interface.
Digital RGB888 signal from E-Car M2's DU1 is connected to Analog Devices ADV7511 HDMI transmitter. Internal registers of ADV7511 are accessible via I2C interface (slave addresses: 0x72 for writring, 0x73 for reading).
The following displays have been tested with Porter board: TBD
DU_LVDS channel 0 of R-car M2 is connected directly to the LCD connector.
Refer to Porter+LG 10" LP101WX1 page for LVDS display connection examples/reference
Video In (CN15)
Video Input interface on Porter board could be used for misc. sources of standard analog baseband television signals compatible with NTSC, PAL. (For example: traditional analog CCTV or car front/rear cameras, media players)
Video signal from Video In connector is converted with Analog Devices ADV7180 into 4:2:2 component 8-bit ITU-R BT.656 video data and passed to R-Car M2 VIN0 interface
The R-Car M2 Porter board incorporates a 20-pin connector for connection to the ARM JTAG emulator. TCK, TDI and TMS have internal 1.8V pull-up resistors. TRST_N can be pulled up or down via R-Car/Boards/Porter:Hardware#JP1.
Debug Ethernet (CN10)
R-Car M2 Porter board includes one 100 Mbps Ethernet interface for debugging purposes. Micrel KSZ8041 (U21) PHY is used, in RMII mode.
On some board revisions, LED 5 indicate Link Status and LED 6 indicate Link Activity.
Analog In/Out (CN13, CN14)
The R-Car M2 Porter board has 3.5 mm jacks for audio input and output. AKM AK4642 audio codec is integrated.
AK4642 is in slave mode after reset and can be switched to master by writing to a special register via I2C interface. SSI can be set to master or slave mode. It is assumed that SSI_SDATA0 is for transmit and SSI_SDATA1 is for receive.
PCI Express (CN5)
R-Car M2 Porter board has one x1 PCI Express slot.
Note:To reduce the difference in wiring length between each pair of differential signals from the R-CarM2 to the PCI-Express slot, the D+ and D- line automatic swap function is used to swap the TODP1_PCIe and TODN1_PCIe signals output from the transmit pins before connection to the slot.
SD Card Slot
Standard-size SD card slot (CN8) is connected to SD card host interface SDHI0 of R-Car M2. SD card voltage can be selected by GP2_12. When GP2_12 is set to 1, 3.3 V is supplied. When GP2_12 is set to 0, 1.8 V is supplied.
microSD Card Slot
MicroSD card slot (CN9) is connected to SD card host interface SDHI0 of R-Car M2. Micro SD voltage can be selected by GP2_26. When GP2_26 is set to 1, 3.3 V is supplied. When GP2_26 is set to 0, 1.8 V is supplied.
R-Car M2 Porter board incorporates one SATA connector which is routed to SATA0 of R-Car M2. In conforms to the Serial ATA standard rev. 3.1 and supports transfer rates of 1.5 Gbps (Gen1) and 3.0 Gbps (Gen2).
TBD: Describe integrated power connector
Renesas R-Car M2 Porter board includes one CAN bus connector. MAX3051 high-speed transceiver is used. Linux driver supports CAN speeds from 5 kbps to 1 Mbit/s.
Refer to R-Car/Boards/CAN for steps necessary for configuring CAN interface on Renesas R-Car Gen2 Porter board.
