  • The BeagleBone Black essentially is an original BeagleBone with three virtual capes:
    • Memory Cape for on board eMMC
    • HDMI Cape for on board video
    • Audio Cape for audio through HDMI

BeagleBone Black Reserved Signals

  • When adding a Cape to the BeagleBone Black, if the same signals are used for the on board virtual capes, then only one of these devices can be supported at a time.
    • MMC signals P8[25:20] and P8[6:3]
    • LCD signals P8[46:27]
    • AUDIO signals P9[31] and P9[29:28]

Supported Capes

  • Each cape is listed with a column to indicate if the cape uses any of the same signals as the virtual cape for each.
  • Mechanical means that the cape has been physcially plugged into a BeagleBone Black and has no clearance issues.
  • Hardware Support means that the cape will electrically work with the BeagleBone Black.
  • Software Support means that the cape is supported in the bootable linux distribution image that ships with the BeagleBone Black.
