The BeagleBone Black essentially is an original BeagleBone with three virtual capes:
- Memory Cape for on board eMMC
- HDMI Cape for on board video
- Audio Cape for audio through HDMI

BeagleBone Black Reserved Signals

When adding a Cape to the BeagleBone Black, if the same signals are used for the on board virtual capes, then only one of these devices can be supported at a time.
- MMC signals P8[25:20] and P8[6:3]
- LCD signals P8[46:27]
- AUDIO signals P9[31] and P9[29:28]

Supported Capes

Each cape is listed with a column to indicate if the cape uses any of the same signals as the virtual cape for each.
Mechanical means that the cape has been physcially plugged into a BeagleBone Black and has no clearance issues.
Hardware Support means that the cape will electrically work with the BeagleBone Black.
Software Support means that the cape is supported in the bootable linux distribution image that ships with the BeagleBone Black.
