Power Plug

Center Positive 12V connector

The RZ/G1M Starter Kit board uses a 5.5 x 2.1mm barrel 12V power plug. It is a Center Positive power supply, indicating that the center (tip) of the output plug is positive (+) and the outer barrel is negative (-).

TBD: add 12V power supplies

On-Board Memory/Storage

RAM: DDR3 SDRAM

The Renesas RZ/G1M Stater Kit board's DDR3-1600 RAM is organised into four 4-Gbit DDR3-SDRAMs (2 channels x 32 bit).

Flash: 64 MB SPI

The 64 MB Spansion S25FL512S SPI Flash (U16) can be selected via JP3. Maximum clock rate for SPI is 48.75 MHz.

Flash: 4 MB SPI

The 4 MB Spansion S25FL032P SPI Flash (U578) can be selected via JP3. Maximum clock rate for SPI is 48.75 MHz.

Connectors

Video Out

The RZ/G1M SoC incorporates one display unit (DU) with the LVDS interface and one display unit with the digital RGB interface.

HDMI (CN45)

The digital RGB888 signal from the RZ/G1M SoC DU1 is connected to Analog Devices ADV7511 HDMI transmitter. the internal registers of ADV7511 are accessible via I2C interface (slave addresses: 0x72 for writring, 0x73 for reading).

The following displays have been tested with the RZ/G1M Starter Kit board: TBD

LVDS (CN30)

The DU_LVDS channel 0 of the RZ/G1M SoC is connected directly to the LCD connector.

Refer to the SK-RZG1M+LG 10" LP101WX1 page for LVDS display connection examples/reference

Video In (CN15)

The Video Input interface on the RZ/G1M Starter Kit board can be used with misc. sources of standard analog baseband television signals compatible with NTSC, PAL. (For example: traditional analog CCTV or car front/rear cameras, media players)

The video signal from the Video In connector is converted with Analog Devices ADV7180 into 4:2:2 component 8-bit ITU-R BT.656 video data and passed to the RZ/G1M SoC VIN0 interface

JTAG (CN1)

Switchable pull-up/pull-down for TRST_N

The RZ/G1M Starter Kit board incorporates a 20-pin connector for connection to the ARM JTAG emulator. TCK, TDI and TMS have internal 1.8V pull-up resistors. TRST_N can be pulled up or down via RZ-G/Boards/SK-RZG1M:Hardware#JP1.

Debug Ethernet (CN10)

The RZ/G1M Starter Kit board includes one 100 Mbps Ethernet interface for debugging purposes. Micrel KSZ8041 (U21) PHY is used, in RMII mode.

On some board revisions, LED 5 indicate Link Status and LED 6 indicate Link Activity.

Audio

Analog In/Out (CN13, CN14)

The RZ/G1M Starter Kit board has 3.5 mm jacks for audio input and output. AKM AK4642 audio codec is integrated.

AK4642 is in slave mode after reset and can be switched to master by writing to a special register via I2C interface. SSI can be set to master or slave mode. It is assumed that SSI_SDATA0 is for transmit and SSI_SDATA1 is for receive.

PCI Express (CN5)

The RZ/G1M Starter Kit board has one x1 PCI Express slot.

Note:To reduce the difference in wiring length between each pair of differential signals from the the RZ/G1M SoC to the PCI-Express slot, the D+ and D- line automatic swap function is used to swap the TODP1_PCIe and TODN1_PCIe signals output from the transmit pins before connection to the slot.

Storage

SD Card Slot

A standard-size SD card slot (CN8) is connected to the SD card host interface SDHI0 of the RZ/G1M SoC. The SD card voltage can be selected by GP2_12. When GP2_12 is set to 1, 3.3 V is supplied. When GP2_12 is set to 0, 1.8 V is supplied.

microSD Card Slot

A MicroSD card slot (CN9) is connected to the SD card host interface SDHI0 of the RZ/G1M SoC. The Micro SD voltage can be selected by GP2_26. When GP2_26 is set to 1, 3.3 V is supplied. When GP2_26 is set to 0, 1.8 V is supplied.

SATA (CN4)

The RZ/G1M Starter Kit board incorporates one SATA connector which is routed to SATA0 of the RZ/G1M SoC. In conforms to the Serial ATA standard rev. 3.1 and supports transfer rates of 1.5 Gbps (Gen1) and 3.0 Gbps (Gen2).

CAN

Pins of the CAN connector on Renesas RZ/G1M Starter Kit board

The RZ/G1M Starter Kit board includes one CAN bus connector. MAX3051 high-speed transceiver is used. The Linux driver supports CAN speeds from 5 kbps to 1 Mbit/s.

The connector used is B3B-XH. The necessary plug can be purchased from Digikey.
