One of the comments I have seen about communicating with students is that they can be intimidated by existing communication channels. The idea is to try to make it as easy as possible for them to talk with mentors. By using a specific channel, they do not need to worry about interrupting conversations and they do not need to deal with our terrible sense of humor. Note that I do day we need to move people to the main channels. -Philip
