Arduino: please elaborate

why not just a microcontroller?

adafruit servo controller


PIC and AVR also seem popular, though harder to wire.


my only experience with servos is Raspberry Pi, so perhaps I am missing the obvious?

what is the advantage to or requirement for using an arduino?
